La Romana International Airport obtains excellent results during 2014 Simulation Case Study

 

Last Friday the 10th of March 2014, a successful Simulation Case Study took place, one of two mandatory security practices which, each take place in La Romana – Casa de Campo International Airport, in accordance with the regulations which belong to the operational security dictated by the International Aviation Organization and the Dominican Civil Aviation Institution, La Romana International Airport – institutions which demand from all international airports, the celebration of a general simulation of an aerial accident each year and a simulation case study in the intermediate year.

In this occasion, the mood was set for an accident scenario, where an airplane supposedly caught fire on land. During the practice, the team tested the role of the various actors and departments involved in the Emergency Plan, the decisions taken during the process and their value, as well as the knowledge and accomplishments of the Action Plan by each one of the institutions involved. By the end, the simulation delivered extremely good results.

“The Simulation Case Study’s final result was a tremendous success. A series of conclusions are now being evaluated and to be included in the Emergency Plan as this last one is a “live” element in the airport, one which is constantly being revised based on the increase of the different operations, new types of airplanes, incorporation of the most recent technologies and/or general security elements”, explained Andres Fernandez, Commercial Director of La Romana Airport.

However, not only the airport’s departments and teams participated in this activity, but also many other institutions which offer services to the facilities and are directly involved in the Emergency Plan, such as; Airport Security, Migration, Customs, Civil Defense, Red Cross, Fire Brigade, among others.
